Tell us about your key sustainability initiatives in the Indian market?
Anand: Oriflame is strongly committed to environmental protection and sustainability. Over the past decade, we have reduced our environmental impact and use 100% renewable energy in all of our manufacturing sites and offices. Apart from that, we focus on using biodegradable ingredients in our products to reduce the impact on the planet. In fact, we have banned the use of plastic microbeads and use 100% natural exfoliators such as almond shells, fruit seeds and olive pits in our scrub products. Additionally, our wellness facility in India reuses 100 percent of its water and is LEED Gold certified.

What are the key CSR activities the brand has been working on?

Anand: Oriflame thinks it’s best to focus on a home area and focus all of your energies on it. This is why we have chosen girls’ education – a force multiplier area and are looking to make a real impact there.
The brand’s association with Deepalaya began in 2006. This CBSE affiliated school, with classes up to grade 12, shares our passion for educating the poorest of the poor. To date, we have sponsored the education of over 7,000 girls in Deepalaya. In addition, we donated two buses to the Deepalaya Learning Center and its schools. Oriflame also helped Deepalaya build a three-story school building in Nuh, one of the most remote areas of Haryana. This school will support the education of more than 3,000 children in the years to come. People, culture and their safety are of paramount importance to us.
