Today we present to you: Pieter Remmers – CEO of Assissa Consultancy Europe
Peter Remmers is a veteran in the field of responsible gaming, consulting and training professionals in the gaming industry. He has been involved in projects with the gaming industry since 1989. Pieter began his career as a director of an outpatient addiction clinic, Jellinek, in the early 1980s. His company Assissa Consultancy Europe works on responsible gambling policies and programs in a number of countries, namely the Netherlands, South Africa, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, Malta, Sweden and others. He is also a very experienced trainer, over years of training and certified trainer in MI (motivational interviewing). Additionally, Pieter is a consultant worldwide to the land-based and online gaming and betting industry, casinos, slots and lotteries and to regulators or other government agencies. He works/has worked with companies like: IGT/GTech/Lottomatica (USA, Italy), Holland Casino (Netherlands), Unibet (UK, Malta), Sun International (South Africa), Svenska Spel (Sweden), Gauselmann/Merkur (Germany), Betsson (Sweden, Malta), Fair Play Casinos (Netherlands), Staatsloterij (Netherlands), Lotto NL (Netherlands), Casino 2000 (Luxembourg), SNAI ( Italy), Betfair (UK), Novomatic (Austria), industry branch organizations like AWI (Germany), VAN (Netherlands), European Casino Association (Belgium) and many more. He also works/has worked for governments and regulators in a number of countries, for example: Singapore, the Netherlands, Sweden, South Africa. Currently, he is involved in projects dealing with the problem of match-fixing and the fight against money laundering. He is a member of the executive committee and general secretary of the European Association for the Study of Gambling (EASG). In addition, he is a shareholder and board member of HANDS (Human Assistance Network for Daily Support, telephone counseling services). In 2003, he initiated the G4 (Global Gambling Guidance Group). G4 operates an international responsible gaming accreditation system for the land-based and online gaming, betting and lottery industry. Since 2004, Pieter has served as Chairman of the Board of G4. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Responsible Gaming Committee of IMGL (International Masters of Gaming Law). He is also a member of the Spielerschutzkommission (Responsible Gambling Commission) of the Gauselmann/Merkur Group, Germany, a member of the advisory board of the AWI in Germany and until 2015 he was a member of the international advisory board of the Ministry of Health . in Singapore. Since 2019, he has also been a member of the Responsible Gaming Committee of AGEM (Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers). Pieter is a very regular speaker at numerous conferences around the world and a freelance correspondent for a number of gaming industry magazines.
