Unfortunately, sports betting is still not legal in Ohio, despite the Senate’s approval of Bill HB 29 in June 2021.

After various attempts to pass sports betting legislation, Ohio State Senator Kirk Schuring said in early November 2021 that the state’s sports betting bill could be approved. “soon”.

If approved, the bill will have to wait another 90 days before coming into force. Sports betting is unlikely to be legal before Superbowl 2022, but it is increasingly likely that residents of Buckeye state will be able to bet some time in 2022.

Ohio Potential Online Sports Betting Sites

While Ohio natives still can’t bet on sports in their state, it’s unclear exactly how many sportsbooks will be available in the state once sports betting is enacted.

Sports betting like BetMGM, DraftKings and Caesars are all expected to be among the best sports betting apps available in Ohio’s starting lineup on launch day.

BetMGM

After taking the US sports betting market by storm, the online sports betting and betting app BetMGM has spread to new markets and has fantastic offers on a variety of sports.

Considering BetMGM’s presence in the rest of the United States, it won’t be surprising to see BetMGM available to the Ohioans once the green light is given for sports betting licenses.

DraftKings

DraftKings initially entered the fantasy sports market, allowing users to earn money based on individual player performance.

Since launching in New Jersey in 2018, DraftKings Sportsbook now operates in multiple states, four of which border Ohio. Since DraftKings’ presence is well known in Ohio, it is very likely that DraftKings will become available in Ohio once the sports betting bill is passed.

Caesars

When it comes to gaming in the United States, Caesars is one of the most iconic names. The name comes from the famous “Caesars Palace” in Las Vegas, one of the most famous casinos in the country.

Given that they now have a high-end bookmaker following their acquisition of William Hill earlier this year, Caesars will want to break into the Ohio market and offer its services once sports betting is legalized.

Four of Ohio’s five neighboring states offer legal betting. Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia all have legal online betting options available to customers.

Ohio Retail Sportbooks up and running?

Currently, there are unfortunately no retail sports betting outlets available. Once the bill is passed, it is believed that retail sports betting will be available in Ohio.

There are already 11 casinos operating in Ohio, so it’s likely that many of them will apply for sports betting licenses.
