Iowa gets a new bookmaker! ClutchBet heads to the Hawkeye state
The Iowa sports betting market has been around for years now, and it’s been hugely popular since its launch. The state sportsbook market was launched in August 2019, meaning NFL fans in the state had three NFL seasons of online sportsbooks available. In addition to mobile sportsbooks, retail sportsbooks are available at popular casinos such as Hard Rock Sioux City, Wild Rose Jefferson, Isle Casino Waterloo and Horseshoe Council Bluffs.
Online betting in Iowa received a major boost starting in 2021, when in-person sports betting registration was no longer required. That led to a handful of $2 billion for the year, and with the football season kicking off, those numbers are only expected to increase. While sports bettors in Iowa already have plenty of sports betting operators, they just got a brand new betting app. Here’s what you need to know about Clutchbet Iowa’s upcoming release.
ClutchBet gets green light in Iowa
ClutchBet Sportsbook has just found a whole new market. The online sports betting site of BlueBet, an Australian sports betting operator, has been officially approved by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. ClutchBet’s process of expanding into the Iowa market began as early as April 2022, when plans were put in place for BlueBet to unveil its online bookmaker to punters in Iowa.
In addition to Iowa, ClutchBet Sportsbook is also available in Colorado, Indiana, and Louisiana. But, according to Gambling Industry News, ClutchBet Iowa’s plans are a bit different, as the strategy incorporates bringing in partners from the B2B side.
This has been dubbed the sports betting platform’s “Capital Lite” strategy. ClutchBet Sportsbook also plans to be available in other states, such as Tennessee, Virginia and Maryland.
ClutchBet, a subsidiary of Australian company BlueBet, has been licensed to launch sports betting in Iowa, joining 17 live sportsbooks:

What does ClutchBet Sportsbook bring to the table?
While it may not have the name recognition of DraftKings or FanDuel, ClutchBet Sportsbook has all the features you would need from a sports betting app. The layout is simpler, which might be great for new users who prefer not to be overwhelmed with promotions and popups when they open the app.
However, as the app is designed at this time, it might not appeal to more experienced sports bettors. The overall list of available sporting events is much smaller than competitors, and there aren’t as many options for picks like the NFL Futures Market. That being said, sports bettors will likely gravitate towards the ClutchPicks section, which offers pre-determined single bets every day.
While ClutchBet Sportsbook continues to grow in the US, expect the platform to continue adding features and developing its interface.
The countdown is on… ⏳

Can ClutchBet Sportsbook Iowa compete?
Time will tell how many sports bettors will sign up for ClutchBet Sportsbook once it rolls out to Hawkeye State. There is certainly plenty of competition, such as DraftKings Sportsbook Iowa, Caesars Sportsbook Iowa, FanDuel Sportsbook Iowa, BetRivers Sportsbook Iowa, and BetMGM Sportsbook Iowa.
However, if the new sports betting site offers a friendly welcome bonus around the launch, Iowa sports bettors will likely check out ClutchBet Sportsbook, especially as the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones kick off their seasons.
