Heathrow: the ridiculously beautiful Italian city where Star Wars was filmed and packed with the world’s best restaurants

Italy is famous for a wide range of things – great artists, the Roman Empire, and this year as Eurovision and Euro winners.

However, the country may be famous for being home to one of the most beautiful villages in Europe, and it’s not hard to see why.

Lenno on Lake Como is arguably the perfect destination for a romantic getaway or a quick weekend getaway from the big city.

Less than two hours from Milan, Lenno is a watering hole for British and Italian holidaymakers every year.

Lenno is perfect for walking, coffee breaks or even for a sit-down meal facing the lake

The city is divided into two main parts; the center near the church and the small historical section behind the port.

If you head towards the port, you will find private boats that take tourists to the lavish Villa del Balbianello.

Film veterans will quickly recognize the villa from Hollywood blockbusters such as “Casino Royale” (2006), but it is perhaps more famous for being in Star Wars.

The villa was used as a formal garden for filming Episode II of Star Wars – Attack of the Clones (2002).

The venue is also regularly used for weddings and other private functions throughout the year.

The city is also an art lover’s paradise, as the Church of St. Stephen houses frescoes dating from the 14th century.

If art and architecture isn’t your thing then maybe going out on the water might be more ideal.

If you really want to immerse yourself in the real Lake Como, there are plenty of water activities that will leave you in awe of the view.

Other hidden gems include Lenno’s fantastic dining scene, with a few Michelin-starred restaurants just steps away.

Locanda la Tirlindana is located in a beautiful square by the water and serves a seemingly “magical” ravioli dish.

One guest said: “Amazing Italian cuisine: the menu has only a few recommendations, but they cook all the classics you could want on request. The lemon ravioli were to die for. Friendly service, fabulous views. A hidden gem. “

If you want to fully enjoy the Michelin experience, book a table at Ristorante MOMI and you won’t be disappointed.

This charming but simple restaurant allows you to taste some of the best Italian wines while overlooking the typical Italian landscape.

A 5 * TripAdvisor review said: “Spectacular setting, amazing staff and without a doubt the best dining experience you could hope for on a trip to the lake … and the owner is one of the nicest people we have ever seen. you can experience – hospitality personified. “

With so much to do, it’s no wonder that Lake Como has long been a favorite destination for British holidaymakers.
