April 2022 is a big month for Sonic fans. Not only will they get to see their favorite blue hedgehog (again voiced by Ben Schwartz) return to the big screen in sonic the hedgehog 2but they will also get to see the cinematic debut of the red-hot-headed echidna Knuckles (voiced by Idris Elba).

However, this month will also see the release of other exciting new feature films. From Michael Bay’s action-packed thriller Ambulance at the next entry into the fantastic beasts franchise, studios are betting big in the final month ahead of the busy summer movie season, so if you’re feeling comfortable hitting the movies in the next four weeks, here are some movies you should definitely watch .

What is it about: Dr. Michael Morbius attempts to cure himself of a rare blood disease by transforming into a living vampire.

who will love: Comic book fans, Jared Leto enthusiasts, anyone who loves vampires.

Overview: Fresh off of last year’s record-breaking hit Spider-Man: No Coming Home, Sony Pictures is releasing another highly anticipated Marvel movie based on another well-known Spider-Man character: Morbius, the Living Vampire. Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto steps into the lead role alongside Matt Smith, Tyrese Gibson and Jared Harris. Michael Keaton is also set to reprise the role of Adrian Toomes/Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming, even though this movie is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Morbius is set in Sony’s Spider-Man (SSU) universe, which also includes the final two Venom movies. Did Doctor Strange’s multiversal shenanigans somehow lead to Toomes being teleported from the MCU to the SSU? Can Morbius be better than the bad movie people assume? April should answer those questions and raise new ones (as comic book movies tend to do these days).

What is it about: Sonic and Tails team up to stop Eggman and Knuckles from taking over the world.

who will love: Sound Fans; gamers, families who enjoyed the surprisingly good first film.

Overview: After more than two years of patiently waiting, Sonic fans can finally experience the highly anticipated sequel to what is widely regarded as one of the best video game movies in recent memory. While many of the actors from the first film are set to reprise their roles, including Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, James Marsden as Sonic’s human friend Tom Wachowski, and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik/Eggman, sonic the hedgehog 2 also marks the feature film debuts of two of video games’ most iconic characters: the friendly yellow fox Tails, voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessy (who has portrayed the character since 2014), and the red echidna Knuckles. , voiced by Elba.

What is it about: After a bank robbery escalates, two brothers involved in the heist hijack an ambulance with a paramedic and an injured officer already in the vehicle.

who will love: Michael Bay fans, action movie lovers, people who love ambulance movies.

Overview: Three years after the release of his original Netflix film 6 UndergroundUniversal Pictures Releases Michael Bay’s Next High-Octane Action Thriller Ambulance on the big screen. While the movie’s trailers and marketing definitely emphasize the over-the-top action set-pieces Bay is known for, they also highlight the heated back and forth between its two leads (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Jake Gyllenhaal). Ambulance reminds The rock era when Bay actually cared about his characters rather than using them as pawns to be moved around in elaborate, explosion-filled action movies. We’ll see if Ambulance is more Nicolas Cage from the 90s than Shia LeBeouf from the 2000s.

What is it about: A rough boxer becomes a priest to convince others not to repeat their mistakes.

who will love: Mark Wahlberg fans, sports biopic fans, anyone looking for a good comeback story.

Overview: The 94th Academy Awards may not have happened that long ago, but that doesn’t mean Sony isn’t already gearing up for the upcoming awards season. Based on trailers and marketing, Mark Wahlberg is definitely going for Oscar gold with his portrayal of real-life boxer-turned-priest Stuart “Stu” Long. Hopefully casting controversial comedian Mel Gibson as Long’s father doesn’t seriously weaken those odds.

What is it about: The good wizard Dumbledore and his friends attempt to thwart the evil wizard Grindlewald’s nefarious plans for world domination.

who will love: Harry Potter fans need another fix, Jude Law followers are still waiting for his return, little mustache lovers

Overview: Even with all the controversy surrounding series creator JK Rowling, Warner Bros. keep moving full speed ahead with the latest chapter in their Harry Potter prequel series. Jude Law once again portrays a young Albus Dumbledore alongside other familiar faces from the last two Fantastic Beasts films, including Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone/Aurelius Dumbledore, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander, and Jessica Williams as Eulalie “Lally” Hicks. One actor who won’t be returning, however, is Johnny Depp, who played evil dark wizard Gellert Grindlewald in the previous two entries and is experiencing his own controversy. This character will instead be played by Mads Mikkelson, who may or may not be an upgrade depending on who you ask.

What is it about: A Viking prince seeks revenge on the man who murdered his father and looted his home.

who will love: Robert Eggers fans, Viking enthusiasts, anyone looking for a trippy theatrical experience.

Overview: Vikings may not be as horrifying as 17th-century witches or haunted lighthouses, but writer/director Robert Eggers is still looking to embrace the otherworldly with his latest feature. The man from the north features an all-star cast including Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Ethan Hawke, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe, and even Bjork. Even though it’s not based on an established IP, the film could still have a major box office impact if the studio markets it properly. It’s rare for a writer like Eggers to get $90 million to make a movie, and while some reported compromises had to be made to appease test audiences, the result should still be more compelling than most films.

What is it about: An unlucky Nic Cage reluctantly accepts a million dollar offer to make an appearance at a wealthy fan’s birthday party unaware that he is in fact a ruthless drug lord.

who will love: Nicholas Cage fans, comedy lovers, anyone who wants to see an even crazier version of birdman.

Overview: Even though Nicolas Cage has appeared in many amazing films over the years, what makes this one so intriguing is that it stars the Oscar-winning and memorable actor as a fictionalized version of himself. To sweeten the pot, several other well-known actors, including Pedro Pascal, Tiffany Haddish, and Neil Patrick Harris, all seem in tune with the film’s quirky meta-vibe. Hopefully this movie succeeds in reminding audiences why Cage is an acting icon who, at his best and his worst, still looks like no other actor.

What is it about: A group of anthropomorphic animal bank robbers attempt to become model citizens.

who will love: Dreamworks Animation fans, parents looking for an entertaining movie to watch with their kids.

Overview: Even though the folks at Dreamworks Animation have already dabbled in a “bad guys are good” narrative with the critically acclaimed superhero flick Megamindwhich makes The villains so intriguing is its highly stylized animation style that is unlike any other CG-animated Dreamworks film. maybe so The villains doing well at the box office, the studio will continue to experiment with other animation styles for future projects. We hope so, because the world doesn’t need another Croods movie.

What is it about: A hardened hitman who slowly loses his memory becomes the target of a shadowy organization for which he refused to complete a job.

who will love: Anyone who loves Liam Neeson’s late-career action movies.

Overview: While a lot of people might be tired of seeing Liam Neeson make another action movie this far into his acting career, the fact that Casino Royale director Martin Campbell is in charge of this film can at least make it tolerable. The cast is also a bit better than your average Neeson movie, with support from Guy Pearce and Monica Bellucci. Neeson’s last action movies have been mediocre, so hopefully it’s more of a Nonstop one Black light.
